A little of this and a little of that

One of the keys to getting my hubby through his Masters degree is J-Term classes.  These are  super intensive classes where a whole semester is jam packed into one week. Sounds fun, right?!  Thankfully he's a trooper and agrees to it during his summer and winter breaks.  Last week he finished the class portion of his summer J-term (I'm sure there's plenty of home work remaining!).  J-terms also mean babysitting for Adeline (thankfully we have some wonderful friends!) and craziness for me as I take Adeline from one place to another, work, and try to keep the house sane.  Now does the lack of blog posting this week make sense?

Two weekends ago I worked on several items including an apron for a friend (and one for the shop--yet to be photographed) and a custom baby blanket.  I love to work with Minkee fabric (the green one pictured).  It is sooo soft, and the thought of a new little baby wrapped up all snug in it makes my baby hormones go a little crazy!  To go with the green minkee I used the Pink Church Flowers and  Pocketbook in Rose fabrics from Heather Bailey's Nicey Jane lineI looove her fabrics!  I've been wanting an excuse to buy some of this, and here it is!

At some point last weekend Brandon asked, "How much money have you spent recently?  You have been getting mail every day this week." Do I really only get mail when I spend money?! Not only did I have all kinds of fabric goodness coming to my door for the blanket, I had also won several giveaways and had traded with another Etsy seller!

Straight from Louisville, KY I won some cute cupcake toppers from 62 Cards!  SammyeJo makes some really cute paper banners and cards along with the cupcake toppers.  A portion of the proceeds from her shop go toward the Matt Monroe Memorial Scholarship Fund, which was set up in memory of her brother, Matt, to help high school seniors pay for secondary education (Matt's football number was 62).  SammyeJo also has a blog...go check her out!  Thanks, SammyeJo, for the toppers!

Adeline now has a cute new onesie thanks to MyMamaBird on Etsy.  She contacted me to buy a couple of items from the shop, and when I saw her shop, I decided a trade was in order :)  I love that the onesie came in an egg carton--this is truly creative and memorable (both great business moves) but also makes it really easy for the recipient to give a gift (or feel like they're receiving one even if they bought it)!  The quality of the onesie is top notch, and I am totally comfortable recommending this shop if you are in the market for a cute baby gift.

Finally, Brandon and I celebrated our wedding anniversary!  YAY for being married to such a wonderful man! We rented a cabin (not for our anniversary) with about 8 friends from our Community Group and spent this past weekend breathing fresh, mountain air, hiking, swimming, relaxing, eating s'mores, and having our souls rejuvenated through time with one another and time in prayer.

This week is looking like it will be much more calm and I may even get a little sewing and a little blogging in.  On my list is to start my dress for Brandon's brother's wedding coming up in just a few weeks (yikes!), try out a new reversible pinafore for Adeline/the shop, finish Beth's napkins Beth, are you there?! :), and hopefully more work on Adeline's quilt.

What is not on the list: spending money.  I'm on a self-imposed no-spend hiatus from fabric.  I have so much fabric that it's embarassing I am not even joking.  Just ask my friends. I don't volunteer trips to my sewing room for a reason, and I just can't justify spending more money for more fabric, when I have several boxes of perfectly good fabric sitting in my sewing room.  Unless of course I'm paying for postage. Anyone interested in a fabric swap?!

ps for those of you who subscribe, if you just received three copies of this post, I am really sorry! I'm having formatting issues :)

  2. So glad you liked the onesie!! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on them! I love my burp cloths and can't wait to give them to my best friend. And I gave the napkins as a gift and they LOVED them!! (hmm...just realized I didn't actually get anything for myself...I'll have to remedy that soon!) :)
